Follow the journey of a wedding planner becoming a bride in Mauritius. Real stories, emotions, and wedding planning tips to inspire couples planning their dream day.

Did you ever watch the film with Jennifer Lopez where she’s a wedding planner who falls in love and gets married?

As a little girl, I never thought this would be my dream job—or that it would bring me so much happiness helping couples get married and creating dreamy weddings by the beach and all around Mauritius. Being a wedding planner… I absolutely love it!

But now, it’s my turn. And let me tell you—it’s such a different, wonderful, and slightly frightening experience to be on the other side.

When I got the proposal from my boyfriend (who is now my fiancé), we had been together for less than a year. But it felt so natural to say yes. We decided to get married before moving into our new house together.

I thought: “Okay, I’m a wedding planner, things will go quick and smooth." But nope! I’m now feeling all the overwhelm, the impatience, and the indecisiveness of a bride-to-be.

At the beginning, I told my fiancé we would keep it simple. We planned to get married in 10 months (and now it’s already down to 8 months!), and the timeline didn’t scare me.

I went straight to Pinterest, picked out a few pictures I loved, and said: “That’s it. This is what I want.” Big LOL.

As the days and weeks passed, I found myself diving into new ideas, new themes, trends, mood boards, blogs, forums… everything about weddings. What’s the best décor? The best food? And of course, the right amount of alcohol to keep everyone happy!

Thankfully, my fiancé and I quickly agreed on a venue. He loved it too, so I didn’t need to look around much. When we did the site visit—a beautiful, intimate garden with a colonial-style house—I was struck. Yes! On the spot, I could see my dream wedding unfolding there. It felt magical and enchanting.

With the venue booked, we created a short timeline. I always imagined a daytime wedding in a garden, because I feel the natural beauty around us is even more appealing in daylight. So, we planned a garden party: ceremony at 2 p.m., a toast, and everyone home by 6 p.m.

But nope! Here comes the bridezilla.

I started overthinking, crying, imagining, and yes—forcing my fiancé to reconsider our plans. Luckily, not the venue (thank goodness!), but the timing and the flow of the day. I realized I wanted more. After all, it’s once in a lifetime.

So, we extended it. Now, we’ll celebrate with a 7-hour wedding: ceremony, standing cocktails, and lots of dancing.

This is just the beginning of my journey from wedding planner to bride. I’d love for you to follow along as I laugh, cry, plan, and celebrate on the way to my dream wedding. Stay with me for more of my wedding story! 💕
